Trump Slams Zelenskyy, Accuses Him of Deceiving U.S. Into $350 Billion War Spending
Former President Claims Ukraine Conflict Could Have Been Avoided, Criticizes Biden's Handling of War Funds

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has launched a fresh verbal attack on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, accusing him of manipulating the Biden administration into excessive military spending amid Ukraine’s ongoing war with Russia.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump criticized Zelenskyy, referring to him as a “modestly successful comedian” who has skillfully persuaded the U.S. government into pouring $350 billion into Ukraine’s war efforts. Trump claimed that the conflict could have been avoided with better leadership and blamed the Biden administration for mishandling the situation.
Trump’s Criticism of U.S. War Spending
Trump expressed frustration over what he views as the U.S. carrying an unfair financial burden in the war. He argued that European nations, which are geographically closer to the conflict, should be making equal or greater contributions compared to the U.S.
“Why didn’t Sleepy Joe Biden demand equalization?” Trump wrote, questioning why the Biden administration has not insisted on Europe matching the U.S.’s financial commitments to Ukraine. He noted that while European contributions are guaranteed, the U.S. receives nothing substantial in return, despite investing heavily in military aid.
Allegations of Missing Funds and Dictatorial Behavior

Taking his criticism further, Trump alleged that half of the funds sent to Ukraine have gone missing. He claimed that even Zelenskyy has acknowledged that a significant portion of the aid has been unaccounted for.
Additionally, Trump accused Zelenskyy of acting like a “dictator” by refusing to hold elections in Ukraine, asserting that the Ukrainian leader’s popularity is on a steep decline. According to Trump, Zelenskyy’s primary skill has been “playing Biden like a fiddle” to secure continuous U.S. support while failing to deliver meaningful progress in the war.
Ukraine’s War Effort and Strategic Failures
Trump painted a bleak picture of Ukraine’s current state, suggesting that the country is losing the war against Russia and may soon be beyond recovery. He argued that millions of Ukrainians have died needlessly due to poor strategic leadership and political miscalculations by Zelenskyy’s government. He also implied that Zelenskyy may be more focused on securing financial aid than on achieving peace.
Trump’s Claim of a Better Alternative
Asserting his ability to handle international conflicts more effectively, Trump insisted that had he been in office, he could have prevented the war entirely. He maintained that his leadership and negotiation skills would have secured a peaceful resolution between Russia and Ukraine.
Trump’s latest remarks come as he continues to position himself for a potential return to the White House in the 2024 presidential race. His criticism of Ukraine aid spending is in line with his broader “America First” policy, which prioritizes domestic concerns over foreign conflicts.
As the Russia-Ukraine war drags on, Trump’s comments are likely to fuel ongoing debates in the U.S. over the country’s role in the conflict and whether continued financial and military support for Ukraine aligns with America’s best interests.
