CDCFIB Temporarily Suspends Recruitment Portal Amid Overwhelming Traffic and Public Backlash

The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has announced the temporary suspension of its recruitment application portal, citing the need to optimize system performance and ensure a transparent process.

In a public statement released on Wednesday, the Board stated that the recruitment portal https://recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng will be unavailable until Monday, July 21st, 2025. The portal, which was set up to handle mass applications into Nigeria’s paramilitary agencies, reportedly faced technical difficulties due to overwhelming traffic and high applicant volume.

“This development will ensure that the portal accommodates the high volume of applications while guaranteeing a smooth, transparent, and fair recruitment process,” the statement read.

The decision, however, has drawn mixed reactions online. While some praised the board’s move to prevent technical mishaps and potential cyberattacks, many Nigerians expressed frustration at what they perceive as poor planning and lack of preparedness, especially in light of Nigeria’s high unemployment rate.

Public Reactions on Social Media

On X (formerly Twitter), users did not hold back their disappointment.

@Muktaryaks wrote:
“Unprofessional. After the first postponement, you won’t tell me you’re not aware of the high unemployment rate in Nigeria.”

@Nnewi300 (Ifeanyi Ifebi) criticized the execution:
“The sheer incompetence is something else. You had more than four weeks to prepare for this recruitment, but look at the whole mess. You can’t even get a portal up and running.”

Others took a more balanced view.
@gbengagiwa_gg (Gbenga Giwa) thanked the Minister of Interior:
“Thank you HM @BTOofficial for this timely intervention. Better to get it right at a later date than put innocent applicants into the hands of scammers.”

Concerns about the registration process also surfaced.
@BNdabai90545 (Fritz Watcher) asked:
“Did anyone upload school certs? I only saw options for birth certificate and indigene letter. Did you guys receive confirmation emails? Please respond.”

Some applicants like @ghost_ghost011 lamented the platform’s failure to launch properly:
“Portal wey person no see use since Monday smh.”

Another user, @JUJUJU91 (Mobraibrahim), jokingly suggested:
“Omo finally. You guys should try to buy a Grade A server abeg.”

Amid the confusion, others like @IS_italume called for a deadline extension, noting:
“Hope they will extend the deadline date also. Because that is important.”

Looking Ahead

While the CDCFIB has committed to resuming the application portal by July 21st, many are hoping the agency will not only improve its technical infrastructure but also ensure the process is inclusive, secure, and timely. The Board concluded its statement by thanking young Nigerians for their enthusiasm and reaffirmed its commitment to a fair and transparent recruitment exercise.
