About the Nigerian Army Short Service Combatant Commission
The Short Service Combatant Commission (SSC) is designed for graduates who want to serve the nation through the Nigerian Army for a 15-year tenure, renewable after 10 years on the active list. Successful applicants are commissioned with the rank of Second Lieutenant after completing training at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Nigerian Army SSC 49/2026 recruitment, applicants must meet the following conditions:
- Nationality: Must be a Nigerian citizen by birth.
- Education: Minimum of HND (Lower Credit) or First Degree (Second Class Lower Division) in relevant disciplines (Arts, Sciences, or Humanities).
- Age: Must be between 23 and 27 years old by January 2026.
- Physical Fitness: Must be medically, mentally, and physically fit according to Nigerian Army standards.
- Marital Status: Must be single at the time of application.
- Height: Minimum of 1.68m for males and 1.65m for females.
- Conduct: Must not have been convicted by any court of law. Military personnel must present a recommendation from their Commanding Officer.
