INEC Warns Nigerians About Fake 2026 Ad-Hoc Staff Recruitment Website

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued an urgent public warning to Nigerians about a fake and unauthorised website currently circulating online and falsely claiming to be an “INEC Ad-hoc Staff Recruitment Portal 2026.”

According to INEC, the website
https://okripeti.org/Inec-ADhoc-Staff-Recruitment.html
is NOT affiliated with INEC in any way and should be completely avoided.

The Commission made this clarification in an official statement released on Tuesday, stressing that the site is a fraudulent platform designed to deceive unsuspecting Nigerians, especially job seekers looking for INEC ad-hoc roles ahead of the 2026 elections.

Fake INEC Recruitment Portal: How the Scam Works

INEC explained that the fake website is structured to look convincing and lure applicants into submitting personal information.

Here’s how the scam typically unfolds:

  1. Victims are asked to fill in personal details, including their name and email address.
  2. After submission, applicants receive a fake message that reads:

“Congratulations,
You are Qualified For INEC ADHOC STAFF Application 2026.”

  1. Victims are then instructed to “proceed” by following suspicious steps, including:
    • Sharing the link with 5 WhatsApp groups or 15 friends
    • Waiting for an automatic redirection to a fake “Submission/Interview Page”
    • Expecting a confirmation SMS within 15 minutes

INEC has confirmed that all information, forms, messages, and instructions on this website are completely false and intended solely to mislead the public and harvest data.

INEC: These Are the ONLY Official Recruitment Links

INEC has made it clear that only the following platforms are authorised for the 2026 FCT Area Council Election Ad-hoc Staff recruitment:

Official INEC Recruitment Platforms

👉 Any website or link outside these addresses is NOT authorised by INEC.

Important Safety Advice From INEC to Nigerians

INEC urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and follow these safety guidelines:

  • ✔️ Always verify recruitment information via INEC’s official websites
  • Do not click or register on suspicious or unofficial links
  • Never submit sensitive details such as BVN, bank information, passwords, or OTPs on non-INEC platforms

Already Registered on the Fake INEC Portal? Here’s What to Do

INEC has advised anyone who may have already registered on the fake portal to:

  • Stop all interactions immediately
  • Do not provide any further personal or financial information
  • Reapply only through the official INEC recruitment links

This step is crucial to prevent identity theft, data misuse, or financial fraud.

INEC reaffirmed its commitment to:

  • Transparency
  • Credibility
  • Protecting Nigerians from fraudulent activities
